Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 28, 2026

WisePDF Reader is built to be private by design. This policy explains in plain language what the app does and does not do with your data. The short version: your files are processed on your device — they are never uploaded to us.

1. Files processed on your device

All reading, annotation, signing, merging, splitting, rotating, converting and scanning happens locally on your phone. Your documents are not uploaded to, stored on, or processed by any of our servers.

We do not have access to the contents of your PDFs, Word, Excel or PowerPoint files, and we never receive copies of them — including files you open with a password.

2. Information we do not collect

  • We do not collect your documents or their contents.
  • We do not collect your name, email address or contacts.
  • We do not track the files you open, read, or annotate.
  • We do not sell or share any personal information with third parties.
  • The app contains no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

3. Permissions the app requests

The app asks only for the permissions it needs to work:

  • Files & storage — to find, open and save documents on your device. Files stay on your device.
  • Camera — used only when you scan paper documents into a PDF. Pictures are saved as local PDFs and are never transmitted.
  • Microphone / audio — used only by the Read Aloud feature to play speech through your speaker.

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device settings; the related features will simply stop working.

4. Data stored on your device

The app keeps preferences (reading mode, language, zoom level) and reading positions — including bookmarks and where you left off — locally on your device so the app remembers them between sessions. This information never leaves your phone.

Deleting the app removes this data from your device, as with any local app data.

5. Password-protected PDFs

If a PDF is protected with a password, the password you enter is used on your device only to unlock the file for reading. Passwords are not stored, transmitted, or shared with anyone, including us.

6. Children's privacy

WisePDF Reader does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Because no personal data is collected, the app is safe for use by all ages.

7. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, the new version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Because the app processes files on your device, material changes to our data practices are not expected.
